Daiso- $2 Pancake Mix

Pancakes craving?
-
-
-
Yes? Maybe? Hungry?
Deiced to give this a try, well because I am a scuker for whipping up my own dish!
I noticed how there was so many varieties of DIY at the food section!
It says on the package that I just need to add milk or water & a egg & mix it all up!
I din't have any milk, booo so I had to resort to using water instead
How simple eh! Decided to add a squeeze of lemon into the mixture cause it seemed better hahahaha
& dang dang dang, my first round of pancake making!
Pretty excited! Pretty simple in fact, so long as you are using a non-stick pan, you're safe!
Flippin' it after the bubble to heat the other side~

&&&& here it is my pancake stack!
Although they are not super awesome but well it the fun of making it & the effort that I went through right?!
Yum yum! Eating it with loads of peanut butter because I love it!

Happy Saturday Everyone! :D

Nakhon never fails.

Love coming here for some good and affordable thai food.
Love their clear tom yum soup so much!
Not to forget the Oatmeal Prawns, I can literally eat all the oatmeal with rice, so darn good!
If you haven't tried Nakhon, you're seriously missing out!

Going thai~

Midweek

-
x Phad Thai- $10.90
x Pineapple Rice- $10.50
x Prawn Sticks- $7.90
-

---

Portion was value for money, but somehow I still prefer my phad thia at Thai Express or the one at E-Sarn~
-
Prawn Stick was rather mediocre, basically fried prawn, nothing special.
-
Can't wait for friday already.

Macarons

MACARONS OR MACAROONS?

This is always a constant question in my head?
I thought they both meant the same thing but boy I was so wrong~

Drumrolls please~!

Anyway here's the thing:

MACAROONS looked like this:

The one we commonly sees is called the "FRENCH MACARONS".

Which brings me to the main point of thi s post, I've finally gotten my hands on the
BIG MACARONS @ PAUL
& yes of you're wondering I am siting outside Taka, cause there's a crowd at Pauls

It cost about $7.40-ish!
I tried their recommended flavour- Raspberries Flavoured.
Such a pretty colour, don't you think (p/s I did no edit this picture at all, look how pinky it is under sunlight!)
It has some saseme seed together with a rich berries jam,i kind of like the idea of the sesame seed cause it makes it more fragrant I guess
The first few bite was a bliss, but it later became too sweet for me >.<
Really this thing will goes much better with some tea...
Price was rather reasonable for such a big macaron!

I tried the Chocolate Flavoured too. (YUMMYYY)
It was more of my kind of macaron? Loving it!
& Uh huh~! If you're a fan of Canele Patisserie then you'll too love PAUL's Chocolate Macaron!

I guess the thing about Paul is that they don't have big fancy names for their macarons.
It's just named after the flavour accordingly.
Only buy these macarons if you're intending to share it just so you know I think it's like a 3-in-1 kinda size so please, eat with care!

Will try their tarts soon, till then.

The Bravery

THE BRAVERY

Backed with yet another cafe that everyone has been raving about.
Well, all cafes are pretty much doing well I assume, with more and more people become one of those "cafe-hoppers" right? Hahahahaha.
-----
At a glance, this is what we ordered:

1. Lavender Latte ($5.80)
This is one of the more popular latte most people come for,
it was a little aromatic, perhaps due to the lavender on the top, I quite like floral tea myself, so this was a plus. Too bad, I am not really a fan of coffee, unless it's mocha >.<
However my friend said it was pretty normal and overrated,
GIve it a try, a cup won't harm right? :)

Next up, 2. Pancakes $15.00
This is pretty much a must-order here at The Bravery.
Needless to say, it really didn't disappoint me at all, the pancakes took a longer while to serve but it was good.
Fluffy and the portion was pretty manageable, I love how it is drizzled with maple and some honey!
yummz ^^
It's one of my favourite pancakes to-date! Love their presentation as well!
For the portion, the price is slightly steep, but it is definitely worth a try!
I love pancakes for breakfast don't you?!

3. Eggs on Toast + Salmon + Avocado ($8+5+2.50)
This is pretty much a mix-and-mix so all we had to do is to order Eggs on Toast & you can choose from the list of sides available to add into your toast!
I love wholegrain bread, don;t you?

So if you are over at Farrer Park/ Jalan Besar vicinity, be sure to pop by The Bravery.
It's only a few mins from the Window by the Windowsill cafe!
It's opposite the stadium, but the door (it's tinted with no obvious signboard to show where exactly The Bravery is, so keep your eyes open and look!) of this place is kinda hard to spot for first-timer!
Weekdays are perfect to come here cause it's much mroe quieter while weekends you might have to wait a while to get your seats!
Decoration was pretty rustic & old-school.
More cafes review up next~!!

Choc-cookie chips

Saturday.

What better way to stay home drinking cuppa of tea & enjoying my "me" time?
Living in the city ahs made everyone forget how simple pleasure is as simple as going to a nearby grocery store
contemplating between this 2....
But I decided to go for the Gluten Free one.
Before you judge me, I really wanted to bake from scratch but pardon me there is just too many ingredients to buy, so decided to get these baking-kits! ^^
Step 1: Mixing the flour with butter, one of the most tedious part. cause the butter can neither be fully meled nor can it be the cold-hard butter
Step2: Adding eggs & Continue to stir & mix the batter
Step 3: Add in vanilla (which i totally forgot to until my 2nd badge of cookies)

waiting waiting waiting

&&&&&&

TA-DAA~!

OH COOKIESSS

ONe lesson I learnt? Baking kit doesn't always guarantee the best result, it's really how you can folllow the instructions & do the "practical" right.
It's not just simply a theory, it's using your heart to bake!
It releases stress too! For the few moments of mixing, I only had one thing in my head telling me to fix it well, let the dough bloom..Heheh, try it, it's therpautic (minus the fact that I had to do a lot of washing thereafter booo )

Group Therapy

Group Therapy

Helloo folks, so sorry for the long hiatus!
Hope everyone is having their awesome weekend & fear not, more cafes post to come!
Been really busy & lazy to post..but you see hiatus means more cafes to explore right?
-----
Came to Group Therapy which is along the Duxton area!
There's a few cafes along the way which we saw including The Plain, Selfish Gene Cafe!
We even saw D.O.C, click here for my review!

Full house on a weekend~
Here's the menu!

See, I am already craving for this as I am typing, eggs are so yummy.
Sorry if you find this image gross, but I like my eggs gooey with toast & salmon. ^^ yumm
-----
Waffle with ice-cream ($12)
Did i mention I have started this weird cravings for waffles & pancakes lately?
If you notice, I have been going around tryna find that one perfect waffle/pancake place *_*y
So I will be hopping around cafes to find where my heart belongs!
---
It was pretty generous the scope of ice cream which is a plus point!
Cause many a times, cafes don' serve such a generous scope so I go really happy to see it! ^^
One full scoop of vanilla ice-cream that was enough for 2 to share!
& I like how they served it with one whole banana &
Most cafes only gave slices of fruits on the side & they charge a much higher price at like $16 or more for waffles, which seems a little too overpriced imo, but this is different!
The waffle was thick , for the price I paid, this is really a worthy deal!! Really worht my $12!
Even the look of it is making me drool! Yummyy

Overall, it is a pretty good place for their food, considering that we only tried 2 off the menu!
It was reasonably priced & for the portion, I would say thumbs up!
Prices are nett with a minimal charge of GST!
There is 2 branches of GT!, definitely will head over to the katong branch one day!!
---
A place to chill, but definitely cafes being too overpopulated might be a little noisy at times, but oh well, consider our population versus the space we are living in rn, if you get what I mean!

Real Food

Real Food?

Heyyy there, so sorry for the hiatus there.
Been really lazy to update this space, but trust me lots of post coming up this weekend
Came over Real Food for lunch cause one of my colleague wanted to eat something healthy~
It is conveniently located at the basement of The Central @Clarke Quay Mrt Station.
Looked really clean with the
$9.80
4/4/14
The central b1-52

After contemplating between pastas/grains/sandwich...
Decided to go for the simplest:
Grilled Veggie Sandwich ($9.80) just because my colleagues had chosen the grains & pasta so i shall try something different as well!
Sneak peak of what's on the inside!!
Here's the secret! It's basically somewhat vegetarian food..
Lots of colours ^^ which makes me feel really happy!
From tomato sauce to capciums to cucumbers to eggplants topped with mozzarella cheese
Served with a side of fresh salad (there isn't any dressing, imo)
Pleasantly presented, this is definitely a light lunch so if you're feeling really hungry go for the pastas or grains instead! Although this sandwich cost less than $10, I felt that it can be cheaper, a lil expensive for a vegan sandwich!
------
My colleagues ordered the Organic Fried Rice ($7.80) which was pretty yummy!
It is brown-rices with lotsa mini capcium, carrots and beans!
I like the idea of having brown rice, I mean it's pretty rare to have fried rice using brown rice right?
-----
Saw a handful of customers ordering the wanton soups! Smelled so delish to me! If you're planning to come over here, give it a try too! The mushrooms pasta are pretty normal in my opinion, nothing too fancy.
-----
The store is also a little mini-grocer where they sell various organic fruits/veg &
there's even a section where there is sauces/ grains/ apple chips etc etc
A cozy place to chill but do bear in mind the lightning is little dim, so I don't advocate studying here!
Loving the idea of having something healthy to eat amidst all the fast-food/ fried food/food with gravy..
Will come over for a second try! Prices on the menu are nett priced!!:)
---
Sometimes, our body are crying out for us to eat cleaner!
Try it, or better still, start your day right, start from wholegrain!
I know how it's tempting to walk pass those neighbourhood bakery smeling the tuna/hotdog fresh from the oven, how damn hard it is to resist such yummy goodness, but do it anyway.
Walk right pass & get that loaf of wholemeal bread instead!

Stateland Cafe

Stateland Cafe

Hellooo there, back with yet another sinful post!
Been having this weird waffles craving & here I am!!
It's a pretty new cafe opened by 3 good friends!
Stateland Cafe here we go go go!
All thsse cafe hopping is making me inspired to have my very own cafe/store too!
They even have a Stateland Car in blue!
Spot the reflection in the above pic, heh wonder if that car is shared among the owners too?
Here's the menu, short & sweet!
& Here is what we I ordered:
1. Belgium Waffle with Ice Cream ($10.90)
It was good!! I like my waffle soft and spongy!
Like the face that it has a hint of maple syrup in the waffle too, plus point!!

I think it was priced reasonably as well, most cafes charge about $16-ish for a platter of waffles, which I personally feel rather ridiculous, I mean they make waffles using the waffle-maker right? Ho much can the scoop of ice cream cost!
-----
& me being greedy, I suggested that we order what the others did, yes we got:
2. Honey Toast ($10.90)
nommm, the toast was pretty thick & it has a side of honey which you can pour over em' toast
It is accompanied with some berries on top & the vanilla ice-cream.
The toast was really fragrant, love how it taste a little milky! hehehe
but one thing about this is perhaps the ice-cream need to be of a bigger scoop.
Cause toast being toast, it gets a little dry after awhile, no doubt the ice-cream is the saviour but the scoop was a little small in comparision to the toast.
Overall, still a yummy dessert! ^^

I'll definitely come back here again if I happen to be around the corner!
It's one of the best comfort food you'll look for on a cherry day or even on a gloomy afternoon!
It's a cozy interior definitely a place to hang out/ date/ chill!
Priecs are nett too!! What's there to lose~!!
Friendly staff as well!! ^^
