POTEATO - Sunday Brunch

Went over to the famous Yong Siak Street Area for some brunch!
the convenience of having a car~
---
There was quite a few cafe over that little lane
Including Fourty Hands & Social Haus
But we decided to go for this because it is less crowded & seem to be more affordable than the rest?
in case you are wondering, it's right at the corner beside Fourty Hands Cafe
There are a few tables on the outside as well~

The Interior when you first step in, I like how it is mostly tiled w bricks & that rustic look from the walls.
---
View from the counter, it's a self-service concept.
You decide what you are gonna eat > make payment > take your cutlery/ peppers/ sauces/ water from the little station (on the left-side of the pic below)
who doesn't love potatoes?!
The extensive types of potatoess!!!
 Brunch Menu~

---
What we ate at a glance:
-----
1. Tofu Potato Cakes ($14.00)
---
it's 2 palm sized golden ball of fried potato + tofu!
if you like fried food you can choose this, serving portion not very big but just nice for the not so hungry people~
It's also served with a small side of avocados and some cherry tomatoes
---

a side of tomatoes & avocados~

2. All American ($16.00)
---
I ordered this, cause I was rlly hungryyyy
I know, it's the usual big breakfast kinda food but I enjoy eating these simple food on a weekend~
Just the right amount of carbs/ protein/ some minereals i guess from the shroom~
Look it's 2 sunny side up~
& of course some diced potatoes!
i like the shrooms & bread though, bread is below the eggs~

-----
Ambience is good, not too noisy & it wasn't really packed...
Good for family/ group of 4 friends to get together!
--
However, I must say the wait for the food is honestly a tad too slow,
I mean it wasn't food house so I really don;t know what took so long for them to prepare it...
My All American was served like after 40 minutes after I ordered?
It came much later than the tofu cakes :(
Hopefully they can be more efficient next time~
-----

Verdict:
It's pretty okay, I mena i really liked the idea of potato but meh
Not exactly good good (the food) but it's not too bad either considering the presentation & ambience which is pretty good, not too crowded
but not the waiting time....a little disappointed on that~
Well maybe next time,  I will try their side dish (potatoes fries etc)
On a side note I do like their rendition of potatoes + tofu combination, which is pretty new.

The AUDACIOUS CAKERY

THE AUDACIOUS CAKERY

It's Saturday once again, thinking of having some muffins and cake in the neighborhood?
Introducing you to a newly opened cafe in September 2013!
A small cozy cafe tucked in the residential area of Everton Park
Came with J to have some "endorphins" hehehehe!
----------
A simple layout & I think that's the boss over there? are you?

-----
Came here at about 6pm-ish! (that explains why my picture was a little dark, oops)
Quite a few cakes were already sold out by then,
:( not complaining  but here is what we ordered!
-----
1. Matcha Cupcake ($3.50)
2. Monet ($9.80)

----------

Awwww don't you just fall for this cute Matcha Cupcake?!
The little puffy cream on top was a kinda adorable ;) (well to me at least, hehe)
-----
Matcha Fan out there! This is THE BOMB!
It's a really rich matcha-ish cupcake definitely worth the price!
*Gulps* as I am typing this right now...
But I think it will taste even better if it's chilled ~.~

----------

Okay so Monet is a alcoholic cake.
With a layer of Orange mousse with champagne, it has also got a layer of raspberry jam kinda filling stuffed in between. Topped with red currants!
I love how cute the cake looked, sort of like a mini version of a "whole cake" ;D
Look how small it is compared to a regular cupcake, just slightly taller!
-----
I would say this is a mixture of sour & sweet flavour.
the mini red currants that resemble "cherries"on top gives it a sour taste and the raspberry gives it a sweet aftertaste, i suppose the zest of the orange on top (mousse) gives it some texture, oh yes the outer "crust" of the cake was crispy too!
this sounds too complicating, Try it for yourself if you are looking for something new!
----------
the array of cupcakes! so gonna try em' all!
(i didn't see any tarts though, might have been sold out?)

----------
carefully packed cupcake to go ^^

----------
So what's in the bag?
3. Raspberry Devil's Cupcake ($3.50)
-----
it taste a little similar to red velvet kinda cupcake besides the cream which I assume has some raspberry taste to it.
Chilled in the fridge for a day & it's not too sweet and rather yummy to go along with a cuppa of hot tea in the afternoon!

closed up shot of cupcake!~

pastel pink cream on top~ which is one of the reason i choose to eat you

----------

So the verdict?
Definitely worth coming back again to try their tarts & cakes!!
But the place can be a little small, so I don't really encourage big groups (group of 4 is fine!)!
I actually prefer the outdoor seats when it's not too sunny. Good for some high tea around the vicinity, a quiet cafe to sit & chilll~ simple & elegant white deco
-----
& a thumbs up for the creative designs/ decoration on the cake!
Prices are reasonable given it's uniqueness! :D yay
