The Factory

it's TGIF! been having s serious craving for potluck but my friend didn't want to...
Oh well, so we head to The Factory, heard there is a variety dips for fries..
we walked from Serangoon MRT, if you don't like to walk I recommend you to take a bus, cause it's not exactly near, but I am fine with walking :)

---
old school menu on the Graph Paper,
wow when was the last time I plotted a graph, hmm...
X-axis, Y-axis, Line of best fit,curved, tangent #secschoolmemories #Emaths #nostalgic
sorrry for the hashtags hahaahaha

---
What we ordered:

---
1. Tendoori Chicken Wrap $11.90
Decided to go for skinny fries with the curry mustard aioli

chicken wrapped in basil wrap..
seem to me that the wrap has been sort of fried/ grilled before serving.
cause usually wraps are dry but this has a little oily texture to it,
Well, I would say it wasn't what I was expecting, the chicken somehow taste like vegetarian chicken.
& I was hoping it will have a more bbq flavored/ teriyaki taste to it
the chicken slices was generous no doubt~
the sauce was really curry curry, a little mustard aftertaste.
Not spicy at all, so you can try this even if you don't take chili

-----
2. Spaghetti with minced chicken $13.90

alongside with Spicy Tomato Chinchalok as the sauce, it's a little spicy and sour at the same time,
lighter version of what I got, it can get a little too spicy for me awhile...

generous amount of spaghetti and sausages~
preferred this to my wrap! cause it kind of taste like the homely cooked spaghetti! (:
Simple and yummy
Heinz Ketchup!

It's nett priced and a really good place to chill out on a Friday,
It was surprisingly empty and spacious, we sat on a long bench, so it's definitely a place for big group to hang out. A place away from the noise & city!
Service was pretty good, the waitress was polite to us, there is a counter to fill water and napkins and sauce
the serving of the fries was pretty generous too ^^
I would say a place is better for their Ambiance > food.
If you are an adventure seeker, you can come over to taste the unique flavored dips!
----
But here's something to be honest, I felt that the entire shop was a little too bare and empty, looked really plain, I know the difference between simplicity and being plain.. So I'll suggest a little more deco and effort from them... like adding some designs on the wall just to have that cozier feeling. No doubt the entrance of the cafe look pretty enticing but it was a little bare on the inside~
& another thing, the sauce is something new to me, so I actually preferred the usual chili & ketchup more...I guess one reason could be the sauce are a little more heavier (like curry taste really too curry-ish and end up being a little dry imo )
Overall, okay definitely room for improvement, haven't tried their waffle or ice-cream yet, heard it's pretty popular there...

& &&
We hopped over back to Nex Mall for some Andersen!
& mine in pink ^^

Goodnight Folks.

Lola Cafe

LOLA CAFE

Met up with my sec school pals for some dinner!! :D
Tucked in the vinicity of Kovan, you find Lola Cafe (it is pretty near to Ice Edge Cafe, if you are wondering where is it really at)
Please pardon the pictures below, it was 7pm-ish so you now bad lightning & the cafe was dimly lit too~

Sitting at the couch waiting for our seats

& If you are wondering what they served for dinner, here is the menu!
There is also a brunch menu which serves the all-day-breakfasts kinda food!

At a glance~ (ughh blurry pics) there's the burger on the top

-----
So X & H got the Spicy Grilled Chicken Burger ($14)

Here is the close-up, it's quite a big burger imo!
If you're really hungry, it's definitely one of the options you can choose to fill your tummy.
I like puffy burger, like really fat and thick! I mean we don;t usually see those at supermarkets do we?
Anyway there's the spicy chicken patty, cheese, sliced tomatoes, lettuces and sauce inside~
My friend said that it was rather average & she won't try it again.
Tried a mouth myself, a little spicy but not memorable for me :)
\
-----
Next, B & S got the Pan Fried Duck Leg with Creamy Mash($16)
the verdict from my friends: portion is a little small, but the meat is relatively tender as well,
I think it's pretty descent and yummy coming out from someone who doesn't like to eat duck much! If you're looking for something light to eat, try this!
It's Duck leg so it's the more tender meat! & it lays atop of a patch of mashed potatoes whoaa
This is more of the fine dinning ind of dinner I would say, nicely presented but small portion!
---

& I got the Slow Braised Pork Goulash ($13)
I honestly think this is quite awesome!
Okay so I googled what is goulash & it is bascially a stew mixed with a couple of spices.
& it taste somewhat like curry/ naan kinda flavour
Really flavourful with chunks of meat (no bones at all) & some tomatoes, capcium!!
Best part of it, it is served with sliced french baguette!!
Onommonmm!! :D I thought I couldn't finish the stew, but i dipped & spooned & quite surprised to finish the pot! :o

Sorry for the weird colour below, it's just the currry kinda colour if you know what I mean!
the picture really don't do justice for this dish!

Love the big sppon, scoop up all da meat!!!

Dip it & eat it together with the chunky and tender meat~ mmhmm

---
We also ordered a side of Truffle Fries ($12)
Well I am quite a fan of fries, i like how it is evenly fried, not too soggy heh
but one thing I don't really like about this is that it kind of smell too cheesy for me.
Like I like how truffle fries are, but look at the chessy flakes on it.
I don't quite like it cause it kind of cover the smell of the "truffle", okay more like when you first put it in your mouth you'll think it's some cheese fries but after awhile then you get the truffle smell.
I still prefer skinny pizza version of truffle fries thouguh, but the portion is quite big, which is pretty suitable for us ( a group of 5). ^^ value for money! yay
---

-----
Here is one of their famous lemon tart I think!

-----
A pity that we were too full to have our dessert, blehh.
We even choose what we were all having when we were waiting outside the cafe! Boo
My recommendation: if you are thinking of having dinner here, skip the fries, eat the desserts after your main!
If not you'll really be too full to have any more sweets!
---
This will be my list of come-back cafes!
The staffs are pretty friendly imo, didn't get here name, but she gave me a brief intro on all the desserts they serve!
Really patient and you just gotta raise your hand for the bottle of water to be served!
& best part? the price is already inclusive of GST!! WHOOHOO!!
;D uh huh, good for brunch/ high tea and dinner small or big group is welcomed :D

Seoul Yummy

My penchant for korean food only started after my visit to korea a few months back.
Gosh, how i miss there ;(
Totally love their beef & pork & of course Kimchi & topokki (korean rice cake)!!!
-----

-----
---
this is the interior, the floor kind of reflect what you really get to see in korea.
It's no always tiled like what we usually see in Sg.
Ohyes, they also have the authentic kind of cultery they used in korea too!
the skinny chopsticks & long spoons!! :)
-----
Popped by Bugis+ & we decided to head over to Seoul Yummy
At a glance, this is what we had~
----
the sides we served before the main food....
From left to right: Kimchi, tofu, peanuts, tofuskin( i guess), Ikan Bilis , raddish
Honestly, it looked better than what it actually tasted.
Only ate the kimchi... peanut felt too hard, ikan bilis has got a little burnt smell...oh wellz
Is it just me~ moving on

-----
Next, I got Spam Kimchi Ra-Myon $13.90

It has quite a few ingredients~
Seaweed, slices of hotdog & meat, egg, mushrooms, kimchi, topokki~
The soup was mid spicy but it taste a little odd in my opinion..
Not really sure how to describe how it taste. I was expecting it to taste more like kimchi soup base.
Hmm but it didn't really taste like kimchi, more of an acquired taste, it could be due to the many ingredients inside.
But I was really pleased to discover there is topokki inside amist the many ingredients!
-----
It was honestly a very filling ra-myon~
You know how noodle actually puff up by absorbing the soup.
& I couldn't finish eating it~the eggs was too salty imo :(
it was harder than local boiled eggs but I understand that Korean eggs are somewhat like that too...
So I ended up eating only half of the egg :/
---

-----
S ordered Kimchi Fried Rice $13.90

I tried a spoonful of the rice & we both agreed that it was a little on bland/light side.
We were both expecting it to taste more kimchi-ish, but somehow the rice only capture the colour of the kimchi but not the flavour. (So if you can't take spicy food, this is actually a dish you can consider)
A little disappointed, but then again there is quite a few ingredients too, ranging from meat to prawns to sotong etc...felt the sotong was a little too soggy for my liking >.<

& us being too greedy we ordered a plate of Spicy Rice Cake ($6.90)
yumyum I love topokki!! it's like amazingg with the sweet spicy sauce *.*
It was served together with our main dish & when it is left in the open, the topokki can hardened a little.
So I suggest if you decide to order this, you might want to tell the waitress to serve this later.
We were quite happy that the staff heated it up for us at the end of the meal, thank you!

Overall verdict, it's not a place I will visit any time soon, felt the food was kind of average.
But if I were to go again, I would probably order the steamboat style soup for 2. Seems like almost every other table had this combo..it looked pretty yummy too!
---
Personally I feel the pricing of the dishes in this restaurant is rather reasonable & also very accessible! :)
Considering the amount of ingredients they put inside the ra-myeon, it quite worth the price I paid.
I do like how the rice cake taste, chewy (but can be softer) with the sauce with a tad bit of spicyness!
& I think the decoration was rather carefully chosen, it may look like a simple layout but there is definitely some element of korean-ish feel to it!
This is definitely a place for the ravenous...(we were both really full after this dinner that we skipped desserts!)

Canelé

You know how some days you are like I'm hungry & I just want to eat.
Those days I'll be too lazy to find a cafe to hang around, I mean if you are an avid cafe-hopper you probably know how important  Google Maps or Gothere.sg are when finding those places, right?
so we decided to hop over to Canelé!
-----
I ordered French Eggs Benedict  (about $10)

Hehehehe can you spot the heart shapped tomatoe? ;D yumnm
-----
Look so yummy! It's amazing how eggs can make you feel so full!
I love the tomato & side of salad gobbled it down within min
I think I was too hungry~
It's a simple and satisfying Eggs Bene dinner! ^.^
-----

My sissy ordered Signature Chicken Caesar.

But of course, here's a close up shot of the salad.
My sis doesn't like the fact that the dressing was a little too much and it taste a little like too much mayo
You know how some salad places allows you to drizzle the sauce yourself?
So at least we can control the amount we want, some like it light, like my sis.
So she did not really enjoy this :/
-----
I'm not particularly a fan of Caesar salad so I only took a mouth.Personally I felt there should be a few more mix greens inside beside the romaine lettuce & maybe have some nuts topped as well?
-----

-----
& Of course, this is one of my favorite macaroons around!!
How could I resist you colorful thing that makes me so harppyyy <3

----------

Almost forgot the service was pretty ok when we dine in~
(But I've had experience once when I was deciding to buy just the macaroons nearing 9+pm while I was still looking at the display, the staff actually off the displayed panel light, & I'm like forget it not gonna buy... I have an issue with service these days ughh ohwell)
hmm place was rather quiet definitely a place you can chill & have a good chat! (:

49 Seats

Dinner Time!

Fish & Chip x Tom Yum Seafood Pasta x Chicken Chop

x I had my portion of Fish & Chip, the fish was really crispy and fresh
x The Seafood Tom Yum was really thick & creamy but it can be a tad too overwhelming
x Chicken Chop was also nicely done

49 Seats

It's a small and cozy cafe with nice decorated walls
No GST & service charge.
Food is generally good and reasonably priced
As for the Seafood Tom Yum Pasta (one of the most popular dishes)
Is a little too thick for my friend's liking.
(my advice: order only if you like creamy & tomyum flavored pasta!).
----------
A place you can pop by after work for some dinner.
do go early as the place gets crowded if you go too late
Food takes a while to serve & I felt that the pasta (metal) plate was quite unappetizing.
But overall, good food worth a try but I might not go back anytime soon.
